Do note that there were a few participants who did not complete the full 18 holes due to the rain that fell. They stopped after 9 holes. The rest (more hardcore players) nevertheless, slogged on doggedly (pardon the expression) to complete the 18 holes. Semua ended basah kuyup.OUR MOTTO
“We play with friends but we don't play friendly game..”
Chronicle of KPMGA
by D. B Matzin
Started its inauguration early in 2006 under the unification of jovial golf nuts who labeled it then as FOM Club, bestowed in honour of senior founding fellow old men (FOM) who were often targets of provocative remarks by their fellow young men (FYM). Ridiculed by 'slanders and insults’ in a number of friendly grueling pastime undermining their capabilities, FOM took the juvenile fellow mates to punishing defeat. Concluded on par if not better hat-trick of victories proved that the old horse still yearns to run....... As more and more FYM joined the club that it began to change its identity. The nuts called it KPMGA to reflect the atmosphere and eccentricity of kampung way of sport. The 'association' grew from a tiny seed to a mighty nut.
If you think, you’re Golf Nut – this will be a venue for you to sprout!!!

Dream of kampung boys....
You will laugh to see this page when one day a KPMGA nut appears on your TV screen in PGA championship tours....ha...ha...

Mohd Hilmee Abu Kassim aka “Helmi Kapal” Mem No.085

Age : 40++ (incl service tax + govt tax)
Profession : Kapal Selam dan Kapal Laut
Status : Married
KGM Member : Not yet
Home Club (if different from above) : Eastwood Valley GCC
Golf handicap : Seem to be stucked at 36 (NHS says so! And I’m not complaining…)
When did you start golfing ? Officially - Chinese New Year 2010; forced by my demanding Boss a.k.a Ponti Express.
What is your best ever score ? Scored 97 Gross at Sutera Harbour GC....sometime in Oct 2010. They made the course easy for the Japanese and Koreans… so they said.
What is your most memorable golfing incident ? 8th Jan 2011. Chased by a swarm of really pissed off ground hornets at Hole 15 Eastwood. 2 persons from our flight were admitted into the Emergency Ward at Miri GH. Each were stung at least 30 times. We laughed about it now. (Ed: Must have been scared sh**less then.....)
Can share your most disappointing golfing incident ? 27th March 2010. Teed Off in front of huge gallery at a Sribima Invitation event. Hole no. 1. Bintulu Golf Club. 1st hit – missed, 2nd Hit – Skied it and fell to the red tee box. 3rd Hit – right into the valley in front. (I am surprised I continued playing till today). (Ed: The beauty and lure of golf.....;))
The best course that you have played at and why ? Dalit GCC, Kota Kinabalu. Par 3 hole… Beautiful view of Mount Kinabalu as the backdrop and the sea at the side. All the “Kapal Selam” boys play there too. (Ed: I agree, played there and enjoyed the scenery.....the golf was something else though....)
Your favourite hole in KGM and why ? No clear favourite but I think hole 14 is quite memorable for me as it gave me a birdie and a few pars. Hole 15 for the Laksa Sarawak Udang Galah for breakfast with the family and friends.
Your least favourite hole in KGM and why ? Holes 4 and 5. The greens are on volcanoes.
Your dream foursome ? Anyone will do… as long as they don’t give me free coaching and become irritating.
Your golfing ambition, if any ? To win something other than lucky draws.
Your dream golfing destination ? Bali
