OUR MOTTO

“We play with friends but we don't play friendly game..”

Chronicle of KPMGA

by D. B Matzin

Started its inauguration early in 2006 under the unification of jovial golf nuts who labeled it then as FOM Club, bestowed in honour of senior founding fellow old men (FOM) who were often targets of provocative remarks by their fellow young men (FYM). Ridiculed by 'slanders and insults’ in a number of friendly grueling pastime undermining their capabilities, FOM took the juvenile fellow mates to punishing defeat. Concluded on par if not better hat-trick of victories proved that the old horse still yearns to run....... As more and more FYM joined the club that it began to change its identity. The nuts called it KPMGA to reflect the atmosphere and eccentricity of kampung way of sport. The 'association' grew from a tiny seed to a mighty nut.

If you think, you’re Golf Nut – this will be a venue for you to sprout!!!

******************************************************************************************************************

Dream of kampung boys....

You will laugh to see this page when one day a KPMGA nut appears on your TV screen in PGA championship tours....ha...ha...

KPMGA End of Season Finale 2011

Some of the early birds snap shots before the game and a Group Photo during the Gala Dinner

Dear All,
The KPMGA End of Season Finale was held on Sunday 11-Dec with the usual flurry of last minute entrances garnering 33 golfers!!! We also had a Gala Dinner to give away the prizes and close out the 2011 season. A karaoke followed suit.

Quoting our beloved Tuan Haji Presiden, "It was surprisingly a great response for the event. Good weather, can’t find any excuses for playing badly. Turn out was over whelming despite few drop outs in the morning. Gala dinner was very well organised. Thank you to all the MTs who had been putting their untiring effort for the sake of healthy golfing and of course, the beloved ‘Association’. Extension for the Karaoke session was granted slightly beyond the ‘legal’ limit permitted under the local regulations. Hey man! Had to use my ‘veto’ power to stop it!".

The event was won by Hasimah who scored a net score of 70, followed by her husband Awang Bakar playing net par golf with Haji Ibrahim Dawok at 75 net and Sha at 77 net and Zailani at 79 net (OCB).
Please find the full results below:-

That was the last tournament for 2011. We will publish the final season tally and standings soon.
Best Wishes for the New Year 2012 and a Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating !
regards,
syed zulkarnain

April Monthly Medal

Dear Fellow Members,

Please find the results of the monthly medal below.

Do note that there were a few participants who did not complete the full 18 holes due to the rain that fell. They stopped after 9 holes. The rest (more hardcore players) nevertheless, slogged on doggedly (pardon the expression) to complete the 18 holes. Semua ended basah kuyup.

Well done to all participants (either 9 or 18) for making the effort to keep the monthly medal going. What about the rest? Come on and join the fun !

What is your best ever score ? Scored 97 Gross at Sutera Harbour GC....sometime in Oct 2010. They made the course easy for the Japanese and Koreans… so they said.
What is your most memorable golfing incident ? 8th Jan 2011. Chased by a swarm of really pissed off ground hornets at Hole 15 Eastwood. 2 persons from our flight were admitted into the Emergency Ward at Miri GH. Each were stung at least 30 times. We laughed about it now. (Ed: Must have been scared sh**less then.....)
Can share your most disappointing golfing incident ? 27th March 2010. Teed Off in front of huge gallery at a Sribima Invitation event. Hole no. 1. Bintulu Golf Club. 1st hit – missed, 2nd Hit – Skied it and fell to the red tee box. 3rd Hit – right into the valley in front. (I am surprised I continued playing till today). (Ed: The beauty and lure of golf.....;))
The best course that you have played at and why ? Dalit GCC, Kota Kinabalu. Par 3 hole… Beautiful view of Mount Kinabalu as the backdrop and the sea at the side. All the “Kapal Selam” boys play there too. (Ed: I agree, played there and enjoyed the scenery.....the golf was something else though....)
Your favourite hole in KGM and why ? No clear favourite but I think hole 14 is quite memorable for me as it gave me a birdie and a few pars. Hole 15 for the Laksa Sarawak Udang Galah for breakfast with the family and friends.
Your least favourite hole in KGM and why ? Holes 4 and 5. The greens are on volcanoes.
Your dream foursome ? Anyone will do… as long as they don’t give me free coaching and become irritating.
Your golfing ambition, if any ? To win something other than lucky draws.
Your dream golfing destination ? Bali

When did you start golfing ? 2009.. was introduced to the game by Othman Ahmat

What is your best ever score ? played nett 62, but I still loose coz my hcp was cap lower then my actual hcp so played nett 67

What is your most memorable golfing incident ? Hole in One at hole 16. Even before I got handicap and membership. Played with Othman Ahmat and Victor Lee.

Can share your most disappointing golfing incident ? Went down to the green for a second time, played with Othman Ahmat, Surya Hidayat and Robert Asut. Tee Off at hole no.10. The ball sliced from the Tee Box hole 10 and it went OB at hole no. 18 the other side of the fairway. It has never happen before or attempted by anyone before. And it happen, not once, not twice but 3 times. That hole alone, I think I played more then 15 stoke.

The best course that you have played at and why ? So far, the best course I played at is in Penaga Golf course. Played one birdie and several par. Never played a birdie and that many par. I have to thank my flight mate, Hj. Drahman (mr. protem president) and Hj. Wahab our team gangster captain. It was quite competitive.. I had to play HCP 24.. coz mr. president do not recognize my HCP of 33. Hahaha… but thanks to Hj. Drahman and his team, our team gangster had a nice treat of nasi briyani in Brunei and offcourse we got our initial investment of $B 30 back. Hahaha…

Your favourite hole in KGM and why ? Hole 14, because I can always play regulation on and had several birdies for that hole.

Your least favourite hole in KGM and why ? I have to say it is hole 4, 5 and 10. This is the hole I always play par.. double par or triple par

Your dream foursome ? (None Betting Othman Ahmat, Raden Indra, Kenneth Tam.. why.. coz when one blow.. everyone blows.. something to laugh about at hole 19.).. Kaki Betting (Feisol Sobeng, Victor Lee and Kenneth Tam Sabah Vs, Sarawak.. so far winning odds are Sarawak 3, Sabah 0).

Your golfing ambition, if any ? To stay at HCP 33.. which I know will never happen.. so to be realistic… to stay and play at HCP 28. New year resolution.. to play at HCP 28.

Your dream golfing destination ? to play in Japan or Korea. Will get back with you once I know any good course there.
